Ben Simmons will be sidelined for at least another week, and Cam Thomas is getting close to rejoining the Nets

Ben Simmons will miss essentially one more week with a squeezed nerve in his lower back, while Cam Thomas is improving from a lower leg injury that has constrained the Brooklyn Nets' driving scorer to miss the last five games.

The Nets said Wednesday that Simmons has worked on after treatment and has started light individual court work. The No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft has missed the last six games in the wake of encountering back issues for the third time in the three seasons since he came to Brooklyn.

Simmons didn't play after the Top pick break last season prior to being closed down as a result of a nerve impingement in his lower back. Another impingement, this time on the opposite side of his back, was found during a X-ray last week after Simmons was feeling inconvenience following a swollen left hip.

The Nets said his status will be refreshed in the future in seven to 10 days.

Thomas was averaging 26.9 focuses prior to hyper-extending his left lower leg on Nov. 8. The Nets said he has been cleared for expanded on-court action and is supposed to rejoin group exercises one week from now as he draws nearer to his return.

Additionally, monitor Dennis Smith Jr. had a X-ray test that affirmed a lower back sprain. He will be recorded as everyday.
